Former England international Cricketer, Marcus Trescothick, exclusively reveals his ultimate Cricket World Cup 2019 Starting XI team...
Halfway through the ICC’s Cricket World Cup 2019, former England international and member of the iconic 2005 Ashes winning team, Marcus Trescothick has revealed his Starting XI exclusively to us! With 141 players to pick from across 10 teams, Trescothick has picked 11 players to make up the ultimate Cricket World Cup 2019 Starting XI.
Quick Team Info:
• Four England players make up Marcus Trescothick’s Cricket World Cup 2019 Starting XI with Eoin Morgan as captain.
• India captain, Virat Kohli, features in the Starting XI, whilst wicket-keeper MS Dhoni and new ball bowler Jasprit Bumrah also make it into the team.
• Australia’s captain, Aaron Finch, opens the batting in Trescothick’s ultimate team with Windies star Chris Gayle, whilst compatriot Andre Russell and Australia’s Mitchell Starc complete the side.
The ICC’s Cricket World Cup 2019 has been a hot topic for all sports fans over the past four weeks; whether it’s the record-breaking amount of games abandoned due to heavy rain, players being left ‘stumped’ by the electronic bails not coming off or South Africa’s tragic start to the tournament, there’s been plenty to talk about.
With all teams having put in a few innings, we got in touch with Trescothick to find out who would make it into his Cricket World Cup 2019 Starting XI after seeing the calibre of players out on the pitch and can now reveal the full team..
Trescothick comments: “I’m betting on England all the way in this World Cup. The three best teams for me have to be England, Australia and India and that’s definitely reflected in my Starting XI. As a former ODI England captain, I have to stick by Morgan and he certainly hasn’t let me down yet, leading the team to two solid victories so far, whilst Ben Stokes’ catch against South Africa was absolutely sublime and cause enough to be included.
“Between Jos Buttler and Aaron Finch, they’re already up there as the leading run scorers for the competition and are two of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket. Mitchell Starc and Jasprit Bumrah are two of the quickest bowlers in the tournament and have both started well, taking a combined total of 14 wickets so far. I think this team would definitely have a chance of winning the competition and that’s without mentioning any of the other players!
“We’ve already had some great games of cricket played with brilliant atmospheres all around the grounds and hopefully the weather picks up, so this can continue as we look further ahead to the matches over the coming weeks.”
