We’re a month into the Premier League season and it’s fair to say there’s been a few hot, and not so hot, moments in the past four weeks…
It’s been just shy of a month since our last ‘What’s Hot, What’s Not’ blog and in that time we have fallen witness to some footballing gems, as well as some absolute shockers that players will have already pushed to the back of their minds never to think of again! Liverpool are leading the way at the top of the league with 12 points, whilst West Ham are trailing behind having been the only team unable to secure a win or even a draw in the past four weeks.
HOT: JORGINHO’S PASSING RECORD…He only signed for The Blues this summer, but Jorginho is already proving to be a hit for the five-time Premier League champions. In his third game for Chelsea away at Newcastle, Jorginho set a new record for the club, completing 158 passes in a single Premier League game. He fell short of the overall total though by just nine passes, which means Gundogan will keep that title… for now!
HOT: NEW SEASON, NEW NETS…
Here at Net World Sports, we’re on a quest to ensure clubs and coaches are educated when it comes to looking after their goalposts, which is why we’ve embarked on our very own goal safety campaign, ‘New Season, New Nets’. For the next three weeks, we’ll be bringing you lots of useful advice when it comes to monitoring the condition of your goal, starting with this handy goal maintenance checklist.
HOT: GOALKEEPERS ON COURSE FOR RECORD BREAKING SEASON…
2018 / 19 is set to be a record breaking season all round, with those brave enough to take the dreaded penalties becoming more and more accurate as time goes on. However, the Premier League has revealed that goalkeepers are also on course to make the most spot-kick heroics than ever before, with more than a third having been saved already.
NOT: ALISSON GOING OUTFIELD…Statistically, he may be the best goalkeeper of the season so far, but neither Leicester or Liverpool fans will be forgetting Alisson’s error in a hurry… In an attempt to do some fancy footwork, The Red’s new keeper, who was brought in this season to end their recent Champions League woes, gave the ball, and a 2-0 lead, away to Leicester.
NOT: WEST HAM’S MISSING WIN…We’re 10% of the way through the Premier League season already and with four games under all 20 teams’ belts, West Ham are yet to win a single point, having lost every game so far, including two home games. This leaves The Hammers at the bottom of the table with 0 points, and -8 GD. Will they be able to make a miraculous recovery before it’s too late?
