7.5kg Dumbbells

7.5kg dumbbells at Net World Sports come in three styles/materials. FORZA Hex dumbbells pair a contoured chrome handle with rubber-coated weights on either end. The rubber protects floors from drops, and the hex shape stops the dumbbell from rolling when set down. Our Pro Urethane dumbbells are designed for commercial gyms. The pro-quality dumbbells have a solid steel chrome core and an impact-resistant urethane coating. They are ideal for PT studios and anyone who demands the best for their home gym. The commercial chrome dumbbells bring a polished chrome-steel look, finished with 1.2mm hill-style knurling for a secure grip. All three are sold in pairs, with larger sets and storage racks available. 7.5kg weights sit in the light-to-moderate part of the standard dumbbell range. For beginners, it is a sensible working weight for exercises such as goblet squats, bent-over rows and chest press. For isolation exercises that target smaller muscles, including lateral raises, front raises and tricep kickbacks, 7.5kg is moderate to advanced. It also works well for dumbbell flys, higher-rep conditioning and circuit training. For context, 7.5kg is roughly the weight of a heavy bowling ball.

7.5KG DUMBBELL FAQs

Can you build muscle with 7.5kg dumbbells?+
Yes, you can build muscle with 2 x 7.5kg dumbbells as part of a weightlifting and resistance training programme, although most people will want an additional, heavier pair of dumbbells on hand. The effectiveness in terms of gains in strength and muscle depends on the lifter's genetics, diet and baseline/starting strength and muscle-mass levels. 7.5kg dumbbells can build muscle for beginners on compound lifts (lifts that use a large amount of muscle) like bench press, but that doesn't mean it is the best weight to use. 7.5kg is a good weight for the average woman lifter to start with on bench press and one-arm rows, but a bit light for the average man. For women beginners, using a weight between 7kg and 10kg on the key lifts is generally recommended, for men it can be anywhere between 10kg and 20kg. The difficulty level when using 7.5kg dumbbells also depends largely on the exercises that are being performed. Isolation exercises (exercises using relatively small muscle mass/groups) like tricep kickbacks and lateral raises are very challenging with 7.5kg - even for advanced lifters. Progressive overload is an important driver of growth, so adding reps or sets week by week produces real gains in strength and size. Taking sets close to form failure in the eight to fifteen rep range is the most effective approach at this weight. Resistance bands looped around the handle can add load where 7.5kg starts to feel easy. For a whole body workout, and to gain muscle equally across the body, it is best to have at least one additional pair of dumbbells at a different weight. For example, an intermediate lifter may use 7.5kg for tricep kickbacks and skull-crushers, and a 20kg pair of dumbbells for chest press and one-arm row. The best weight to use per exercise for the same lifter, will always be different - and so it is good to have 2 or 3 pairs of dumbbells to hand when training the entire body.
Are 7.5kg dumbbells good for beginners?+
Yes, 7.5kg dumbbells are a versatile starting weight. For many compound exercises, including goblet squats, bent-over rows and bench press, 7.5kg lets a beginner learn the movement and technique of each lift, while still feeling a genuine training effect. Women and older adults starting resistance training often begin around this weight. For isolation exercises that work smaller muscles, such as lateral raises and front raises, 7.5kg is challenging for most lifters, since these movements use far less muscle mass. It is also a practical weight for warm-ups, higher-rep conditioning and circuit training. As technique and strength improve, most beginners progress to 10kg and above on compound lifts within a few weeks or months of consistent training. As mentioned above, if the goal is to build muscle and/or strength, it is best to have 2 or 3 pairs of dumbbells at different weights if possible.
Are 7.5kg dumbbells heavy?+
7.5kg dumbbells are light to moderate, and how heavy they feel depends entirely on the exercise and the individual lifter. On compound lifts like bench press, rows and goblet squats, 7.5kg is light for most adults and suited to beginners or higher-rep work. On isolation exercises such as lateral raises, rear delt flyes and front raises, 7.5kg is challenging for most intermediate and even advanced lifters. This is because the muscles doing the work are small and tire quickly; in addition, people tend to do higher reps on isolation exercises with a focus on technique and contracting the targeted muscles. For high-rep conditioning and circuit training, a 7.5kg pair can become demanding, depending on the exercise. It is not a heavy dumbbell by gym standards, but it is a useful one that earns its place in most home and commercial setups.
