How big is a futsal goal?
The official/regulation futsal goal size is 3m wide and 2m high. The width measurement is taken from between the inside of the posts and the height measurement is taken from the underside of the crossbar to the ground.
In feet, the goal frames measure 9’10ft wide and 6’7ft tall. With regulation goals both the goal posts and crossbar have the same depth/thickness as futsal pitch goal line markings which is 8cm.
What colour are futsal goal posts?
The colour of futsal goals very much depends on the league’s specifications. The most common requirement is for futsal goals to be white which ensures good visibility of the goal against the playing surface. Having visible goals is obviously very important and helps both players and referees during games.
Striped goal posts are also very common (particularly red and white) and many futsal pitches around the world use goals with a striped colour scheme.
For the most part as long as the goals are visible and a different colour than the pitch/court it is usually fine, although it’s worth checking if there are any regulations on futsal goal colours that apply to you.
Does the shape of the futsal goal matter?
The shape of futsal goal posts typically doesn't matter. While football goals often have a box-shaped design, futsal goals are usually flat-backed. This difference is primarily due to the smaller size and indoor environment of futsal, which doesn't require the same level of structural support as outdoor football goals.
Does the shape of the posts matter?
When it comes to the shape of the posts there are some basic regulations. FIFA rules states that futsal goal posts and crossbars must be the same shape at both ends of the pitch. The approved shapes are square, rectangular, round, elliptical or a hybrid of these options, meaning you’ll find futsal goals with various different shape posts. Some leagues are stricter and require posts to be square/rectangular in shape.
What’s the difference between a futsal and football goal?
As we’ve outlined above there are plenty of differences between futsal and football goals. One of the biggest differences is the size of goals; futsal goals are much smaller measuring 3m x 2m, while standard full size football goals for senior matches are 24 feet by 8 feet (7.3m x 2.4m).
Professional football matches often use box-shaped goals, which are not used in futsal. Goals in football are always white whilst in futsal striped goals are not uncommon. One final difference is that with football goals posts are typically round, whilst in futsal goal posts can be a variety of different shapes.
